CEDAR JetWeb

JetWeb

JetWeb is a facility for tuning and validating Monte Carlo models. A relational database of reaction data and predictions from different models is accessed via the web, enabling a user to find out how well a given model agrees with a range of data and to request predictions using parameter sets that are not yet in the database.

As part of CEDAR, JetWeb will extend to cover many more experimental results and further Monte Carlo prediction programs. Important components of this are:

  • Standard descriptors for Monte Carlo models/parameter settings, and for high energy physics measurements. See HepML for status.
  • Support and development for the HZTool MC/Data comparison package, as well as the steering add-ons in HZSteer.
  • Development of Rivet, a C++ replacement for HZTool and HZSteer.
  • An online database of measurements, i.e. HepData.
  • General purpose generators of HEP events and cross sections. See HepCode for a list.
  • Large amounts of computing power using the LHC Computing Grid.

As part of the process of gearing up to validate new and existing programs, we are working with generator authors and the experiments to define high priority data sets which must be implemented in JetWeb.

You can also see the current test server, though expect this to be rather unstable at present.
